Board Certified PodiatristDr. Jennifer Somers, as founder of Somers Foot & Ankle, LLC, happily opened her practice in 2016 close to her home town (Waterford) after working for approximately 9 years as an associate physician in a group setting on the east side of the state. She is Board Certified by the American Board of Foot and Ankle Surgery in foot surgery, completed her 3-year surgical residency training at Southeast Michigan Surgical Hospital (previously Kern Hospital). While there, she received three years of extensive training in foot and ankle surgery, diabetic foot care, diabetic wound care, and limb salvage from some of the most skilled physicians and surgeons in the country. She has special interest in the treatment of sports related injuries, diabetic preventative care, diabetic wounds, reconstructive foot and ankle surgery and Pediatrics. Dr. Somers is a graduate of the Ohio College of Podiatric Medicine, where she received numerous awards in addition to being very involved student government and several other student organizations during her four years of medical school. Prior to that, she graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Biology and a minor degree in Chemistry from Sienna Heights University in Adrian, MI where she was very active in her sorority. She is a Native of Waterford MI and a graduate of Waterford Kettering High School (GO CAPTAINS!!) She is on Staff at several hospitals including, Troy Beaumont, Henry Ford Health Systems, St. John Hospitals and local surgery centers. She is an avid sports fan and spend much of her free time with her Husband Josh and their baby Jack rooting on the Lions, Tigers, Red Wings and of course U of M football!! Dr. Jennifer Somers enjoys working with patients one on one in a clinical setting and really getting to know them as a person. “I love taking care of my patients and getting them back on their feet. I am a strong believer that if your feet hurt then you hurt all over”.
